8 Radio Happenings 10.26.2026

. Not too much going on right now but going to send a few reminders of what is happening .OH don't forget to check the calendar in the website...

Obviously it is the end of October already, although the weather, being 15° warmer than the norm, is not reminding us of it. Sitting out on the front porch just soaking it in.. As I walked around the QTH, noticed some of my "buried" coax sticking out of the grass.. I quickly got it back in before i have to use the Lawnmower/leaf picker upper. I sometimes ask as long as it is in the shade most of the time, would it just be easier to leave it on top?  It is not in danger of being cut because it is so close to the house, but do i need to worry about the four legged varmints?

So on with the Club information..

We are reminded in this and each following newsletters that  Dues are due.  still the same price and it is good for a whole year of 2027. IF you were one of those that paid the $10 between April and October 1st, that was only for the rest of 2026 and the 2027 $20 is now due...and if you did that in 2026, you are not eligible to do it again.. just a one time shot and thanks for joining the GB Mike & Key Club.
You can pay by card in the K9EAM.org site under the membership/dues link on  the right side.. it should take any credit card or send check to  Green Bay Mike & Key, 3004 Quarry Park Dr,#10. De Pere, WI 54115

The deadline for submitting the nominations for Ham of the Year is drawing near at the end of the week, so be sure to send in the nominee name, call sign and some reasons what they did to help make the Club successful to davidziesmer53@gmail.com.

Dave N8KQS is looking at stepping down from being the Webmaster for the Club's Website, K9EAM.ORG...If you have some knowledge of computer programming ,  NOT the deep stuff .. please send your interest to K9EAM@Yahoo.com... It will not take much of your time..

Which brings us to reminding you that nominations and voting for Members of the Board will take place at the Annual Meeting on November 12th.. If you want to submit a person for that position, (be sure they will accept it) bring it to the meeting.
At the October meeting the nominations went like this ---Todd Clausen is stepping down from the Board....    Jane R KD9WLM nominated Mike P W9MWP but he declined, John W0LFE nominated Paul KB0P, Todd W9GRB nominated Sam W9SJR, Dave Z KD9HJJ nominated John W0LFE, Gene AB9GK nominated Dave Z KD9HJJ, Sam W9SJR nominated Wes W9WES but he declined, Paul KB0P nominated Matt KE9DFV, Sam W9SJR nominated Pam E KD0GPH, Keith S KS9WI nominated Marlon E KF0ENX.

Notice that we are taking reports during each week via this email address.. there are very few Wednesdays left to complete the list for this year.. If you are available please pick one that has not be checked yet.. any Wednesday.. the sirens operate each Wednesday unless there is a storm in  the area....

NOTE: Received a nice note from the Board of Friends of the Kewaunee Pierhead Lighthouse .. it reads>>
Dear Dave and fellow radio operators,
Thanks for your contributions to the lighthouse open days.  I know many visitors are very interested in the history and having you there to demonstrate live the use of radio is a great addition!  For oldies it’s a reminder of past times, and for the younger generation it’s something they’ve never seen before.
Hope to see you back in 2027!
Sincerely,

Denise Anderson
