Wow.. it is noon on Sunday and the temperature is 62° - Precursor to Fall.. As well as my neighborhood is seeing more gardens being reduced to churned dirt..
As a Radio Operator, that means that it is time to prepare for that as well.. All outside devices, connections, seals on boxes, antennas, ropes, cables holding the towers or items in trees, clamps and anchors in the ground need to be checked... I found that some rodent (squirrel or rabbit) had partially chewed a rope holding my antenna in the tree..
Remember to dust off the radio gear in the shack so that the heat is dissipated easier... and scares off the spiders.. ha...
Enough of that.. now to what is happening (Like the name of the newsletter)
This Tuesday, Sept. 15th is CQ Tuesday.. if you have a moment around noon (11:30) stop by the Bay Family Restaurant on Military Ave & 9th , and join other Hams having lunch and enjoying the hobby stories.
On Sunday, Sept. 20th, Starting at 5:30PM, is the Fox Hunt.. Tune in to 147.555.. hear the "Fox" and see if you can find her.......
And Every Monday at 7:15PM on the 147.360 Repeater, is the Club Net.. Just a "Rag Chewing" net .. a good chance to discuss Club or general ham subjects.. perhaps get answers to problems that may be happening with your gear or how to make some software work
As we come into the final Quarter of this year, we come to looking at nominations for Ham of the Year.. Looking for outstanding member or members that have stood out in making the club more successful during the past year.. Besides putting their name on the paper, you must list things that they have accomplished to earn this award.. Stay tuned for how to submit the nomination... .
While you run the faces and/or names through your head, also prepare a list of possible officers for the coming year.. Nominations begin in October's meeting and will happen again at the November (Annual) Meeting just prior to vote. You will vote on seven of the list of candidates ..
