Dear Members,
Our meeting is this Thursday at 7:00 with the Tech Talk at 6:30. If you haven’t been at a meeting for a while, this will be a good one to attend. We’ll be talking about important upcoming activities like the Hamfest on May 30 and Field Day June 27/28 and learning how we can all participate and fully enjoy these key events.
Speaking of key events, we had our first Brat Barn on May 3 and it was a BIG success, earning over $1,300 for the club. Sincere thanks to Keith, KS9WI and the many other volunteers who spent part of their Sunday working the “barn”.
A major project that directly benefited from our fund raising was the recent installation of the 147.360 repeater in Champion. After several months of work, the repeater went live on May 6. Please give the repeater a try. It’s both an analog FM as well as a Yaesu System Fusion machine and has so far proven to cover Kewaunee, Appleton, and throughout Green Bay. (Please check out the latest issue of Radio Happenings to learn how to set your radio so you won’t hear the Fusion noise bursts on your analog receiver.) As with all our achievements, this was a team effort and the club is most grateful to Sam, KN9SAM; Todd, W9GRB; Paul, K9ARF; Nick, KB9UAE; Paul, KB0P; Tim, N4GBP; Sam, W9SJR; and, John, W0LFE. (I’m proud to say that I was also part of this team!)
If you made it to the Multi Club Picnic on Saturday, I’m sure you enjoyed the food, the door prizes, and the very informative presentation by Bob Ronk, W9AP on his recent Bouvet Island DXpedition. Bob will be at the Hamfest so please stop at his table and say hello. The picnic was another great event organized by Connie, KE9ALV!
I hope you can make it Thursday evening. Be there at 6:30 to enjoy Walt’s, KE9TT Tech Talk on the “Grey Line”.
See you at the meeting.
