**Banquet*

The Awards Banquet was held at the Woods Banquet Hall. The dinner of Broasted chicken, Tenderloin tips, mashed potatos and gravy, stuffing (dressing), warm rolls, cold slaw and dessert was served family style.

The awards were presented. The Ham of the Year was presented to David Ziesmer, KD9HJJ for all his participation and leadership during the past year

Our President, Paul Racine, was given a Certificate of Appreciation for his leadership and efforts as President for 2022.

A symbolic award, “The Invisible Award”, was given to all those that gave their time and efforts to the interests of the Club, working in the background seemingly unnoticed. This also included the significant others for assisting to attain the goals.

****WIS QSO Party..*
The snow was falling at a record pace, the wind was blowing and the temperature was falling.. a perfect evening to stay inside and participate in a radio contest!
A couple of us (Todd, W9GRB and myself) took the EComm trailer up to Bay Settlement road and set up just South of the Hill Top CafĂ© (BP Gas Station) The bands were pretty clear and busy.. Colorado was having their QSO Party also.
We set up an Off Center Fed dipole. Our elevation there is about 610 feet. The calls were coming in from all over the state. We may not have made as many contacts as AB9GK, Gene, with his 319.. but had fun. Contacted other members of the Club during this event as well.. cannot wait to see the  results.. I see that others have posted  their count on the Club Facebook page..

A big thanks to Scott, KD9LHY’s sons that helped dig us out. Yes, the coats had to stay on.. No tubes in the radio to keep us warm..

Radio..
As we get ready for group radio events like the WI QSO, Special Events and Field Day, we concern ourselves with possible interference from a nearby  antenna that is on a different band. There are band pass filters and tuning stubs. There is a good article explaining tuning stubs and showing how to use them. According to the article, with two of  them and a switch, they a can help on most bands. Before the events, there is still time to make some..
“A stub is just a length of transmission line terminated in a fixed impedance, usually a short or open-circuit. “
