This will be the first of the</div><div>nominations for the 2024 Executive Board. Each year, all the Board positions are open for nominations.. The second and final nominations takes place just before the voting at the Annual Meeting November 9th</div><div>. You elect five (5) Board Members. Some time after the election They meet and chose which Officer position they will accept for the coming year. If you are going to nominate someone, be sure they will accept the nomination. </div></div><div><br /></div><div><div>Zoom participation: It is time to renew our contract with the Zoom company..Like everything else, the price has increased.. so it is time to hear from you on it’s usefulness now that the medical conditions have changed .</div></div><div><br /></div><div><div><b>October 4th</b><b>– National Alert Test</b></div><div>Wow… I did not know my phone would put out such a loud noise.. I hope</div><div>that your phone sounded.. That says-that in case of a National Emergency, you will be notified..</div><div><br /></div><div><b>October 9th.. SET</b></div><div>The annual Simulated Emergency Test took place last Saturday. The test was to see if we were able to provide backup communications to the area hospitals.. This also showed that we are able to not only communicate between those in Green Bay but to hospitals in other Counties. Using Winlink we were able to pass messages to</div><div>the State Emergency Management, District EC and State Section Manager.</div></div><div><div><b><br /></b></div><div><b>October 14th Bear Paw Camp… Scouting</b></div><div>This Scouting event is held at Bear Paw Scout Camp near Mountain. The</div><div>registration closed shortly after we received notice of invitation. We were able to provide a list of those that have been trained in Youth Safety… Some of you tried to get into the website but could not… most likely because of the closing of the registration. (Guessing) Maybe next year… OR</div></div><div><b>JOTA: October 21st /22nd</b></div><div><div>This event is when the Scouts have an opportunity to try to contact other Scouts from around the world via Radio.. We just provide the means and mentoring to do that. We have been asked to set up for this activity to provide for JOTA as well as for the radio merit badge. The location has been changed to the Scout Center near New Franken These are two very active Scout Troops. So we may need two stations … ( Most likely, just on Saturday) do you have a portable HF station??</div><div>We can provide the coax and antenna .. we arrived at 8AM to the GB Yachting Club.
A 40 thru 6mtr OCF dipole was placed between the two Range Lights. In case someone else would show up with a
radio and wanted to join in, a 80 thru 6mtr OCF dipole was raised from
atop the South Light and sloped toward the East. There did not seem to be anyone on 40 or 20
meters.. switched over to the longer antenna, but was rejected on all bands by
the radio. Took that antenna down and put up a different 80- 6mtr OCF dipole..
but had the same problem … went back to the 40+ antenna and began to make
contacts.<br /> <o:p></o:p></span><span style="background: white; font-family: Verdana, "sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> While putting things away when we closed down,
Wes found that the connector between the two coax cables was only connected on
one side..<br /> </span><span style="background: white; font-family: Verdana, "sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">Of
course, that was on me. But we made contacts and met a bunch of visitors as
they came to view the Lights. Once again, Wayne Dunbar and the rest of the
Light Keepers were very hospitable and big THANK You to them.<br /> </span><span style="background: white; font-family: Verdana, "sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> The OCF dipoles were checked again the next
day because we planned on using them at the Kewaunee Pierhead Lighthouse on the 7th</span><span style="background: white; font-family: Arial, "sans-serif"; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;">.<br /> <o:p></o:p></span><span style="background: white; font-family: Verdana, "sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> Which we did…… Monday the 7th

was contacted by Walt, KE9WTT to arrange to operate from this Lighthouse, came
up by bicycle.</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, "sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt;"> </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, "sans-serif"; font-size: 12pt;">The bike was the way to

set up. The plan was to throw down a rope from the light, then tie on one end
of the antenna, stretch it out and tie it to one on the ship tie on’s that are
in the middle of the pier… so we had a
sloping to the West. Our desk was right at the front door… a super
view.. After a few contacts on 14.263,
one check in told us that a net would be starting on .262, so we QSY’d and did
not take long for Mike to start drawing them in. You can see the video at the Friends of the

“Shack” at St. Norbert and checked the DX3000 and the peripheral equipment to
see how the settings are for possible use as a Special Event station. The Antenna Switch worked well as well as the
SWR/Power meter. Had a learning curve for setting the power levels. There was a
menu adjustment to keep the CW setting from coming on with the SSB mode… this
had kept the power output setting from showing up on the front of the radio.
Had to set the mic gain down a little… the microphone is quite sensitive.. The auto turner worked well on 20 and 40
meters.. (did not try any others – there is not a 75 meter coil on the antenna)

It was sunny, warm with a slight breeze.. The camaraderie began right away with breakfast. First the long table was filled, then the round table along side, then followed by filling two of the nearby booths.. The mood and sprit was super charged. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> </span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">Leaving there, the normal route was blocked with a bridge repair but detours were easy to follow.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> Everyone pitched in to assemble the site.. antennas were lifted up or rigged and connected with coax. There was one somewhat remote site with an RV and they were up in short time. A small camper was set up with solar & batteries using some vertical antenni. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> </span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> It was decided to operate with a possible five stations plus a GOTA station. The CW station was set up inside the shelter.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> Everything was set and appeared ready at the 1PM start time. A couple of glitches at the EComm Trailer with high SWR because of a failed coax then the wire connection disconnected on the antenna.. Looking back, it gave a good lesson in trouble shooting but lost some transmitting time. (the antenna was checked before FD, but the problem must have exasperated when being set up.)</span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> About 34 signed in including some curious from the neighborhood.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> We are still adding up the points but need some pictures to validate the bonus points. (a separate email) </span></div><div> <span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">Total QSO Points – 906 with pwr factor.</span></div></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><div> The little rain shower did not bother any of the activity. The Potluck dinner was very good with a lot folks coming to partake and enjoy the evening together. The next morning the radios were still making contacts with a shift in the propagation. </div><div><br /></div><div>The group closed down and began the put things away plus get the area cleaned up. Some of the members went to D2, right down the road for lunch before heading home.</div><div> The park amenities were top notch. I think everyone would like to come there again in the future. </div><div> Thanks to a lot of folks.. those that came out to help set up, those that operated, those that logged, those that brought food for the dinner, those that helped close up, those that came to participate in any way.. A good Field Day overall. Will send out a final result when it comes together.. </div><div> </div></span></div><div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><b>GreenBay Mike & Key Club Meetings:</b></span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">July 13th –The Tower Room, 4th floor of the G-M Science Bldg. Getting excited? You bet!</span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> Eight Club members just returned from the Hamvention in Xenia, Ohio(used to be in Dayton) My second time but I saw a lot more this visit. It is also a learning event. As we walked and talked to the vendors like Icom, Yeasu, Kenwood, etc we learned more of what they had. But was also interesting were the ones that had the accessories, like the ammo box radio setups, the batteries, the various antennas, software, there seemed to be more miniature digital meters for those that are updating their “shacks”. </span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> I had the great experience of working in the Tower Electronics booth. Met fellow Hams from all over.. Greece, Italy, U.K., Brazil, etc, and from Washington state to New Jersey, Florida, Texas. Most said they always come to this particular booth, because they had some of the best adaptors for their set ups. Finding the antenna adaptors for the HTs seemed to be my most sales. Surprising how many have been to Lambeau Field </span></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> It is still not too late to reserve your table or Trunk Sales spot for the GBM&K Fest Or <i>volunteer to help out</i>.. contact the Co Chairs.. The Comet analyzer showed bad on all bands.. </span><span style="font-size: 11pt;">t</span><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">hen all the other antennas did also… The antennas were brought to a
different location (KA9BXG) and they checked good.</span></p></div><div style="text-align: left;">
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> Remembered the same
thing happened when checking the antenna
at St. Norbert. The Comet folks said the analyzer was getting unwanted rf from
the cell tower equipment on the roof. Nothing wrong with the antenna..<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 6.0pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"> At the house, since the
antennas were built, new security cameras were installed .. wireless.. stray
rf.. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

wonder if there are any Ham radio operators that may have moved in near
you? There is a map you can bring up
with that information… Usually you can see an antenna tower poke out of the
trees or on top of a roof.. But there may be a Tech with a HT right now while
working on their General level. Or you
may be looking for an Elmer that lives near by..<o:p></o:p></span></p><p style="background: white; margin-bottom: 10.5pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;"><a href="https://haminfo.tetranz.com/map">https://haminfo.tetranz.com/map</a><o:p></o:p></span></p><div style="background: white; margin: 0in 0in 10.5pt; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">I just put my <i>grid square</i>

your grid square? It should be on your license or go to QRZ Grid Mapper.. Good
to know that grid for logging purposes or other things like Winlink and APRS.</span></div></div><div style="text-align: left;"><p style="background: white; margin-bottom: 10.5pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;"><b><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: medium;">Shack<o:p></o:p></span></b></p>

think about sending printed message forms from one radio to another without a
