Radio Happenings lost articles from June 10th..

Good Evening..
As we continue to move into summer --  more things come along that we can join in on..  I hope to continue to add to our new Calendar which we will add as an attachment.. it seems the best way so far..
I hope you had a chance to go to the Club Hamfest a week ago... We had a record number of attendees of 265!! And some good vendors.. The "trunk sales " in the back parking lot filled all the spaces and we had to extend it six more spaces into the parking area.. And talking about the parking area,.. Our great team of "parkers" said the parking area was filled before the event even began... We even had folks from the U.P. come in ...  IF you attend the Club meeting on Thursday, you will hear how we did financially...
The Brat Barn also was one of our best financially as well..  It must be the cool weather ...
As you see, I am giving the new email another try... I hope all the spelling errors are taken care of..  if not let me know..

The folks at the Kewaunee Pierhead Lighthouse are having an Open House on Saturday the 14th. Couple of radio operators will be there doing an activation.. IF you happen to go there, come up to the Radio Room and say hi or get you fist around the microphone (could not say mike because there will be a Mike up there)   If you are interested in doing something like this, let me know because there will be four more opportunities there..   This lighthouse is one of a few that let people climb to the top where the lantern is...  bring your camera..  It is a nice walk on the pier ..

But tomorrow, Wednesday the 11th, There will be a Siren Test Net. You will find a list of the sirens that have yet to be checked as an attachment.. If you can spare some time, go to one of them, check into the net between 11:45 and Noon, and then after the siren is activated, check back in to Net Control and report if the siren had sound, rotated or if the disk inside turned .. of course the old sirens do not move.. The report goes to the Emergency Management Dept. .. if any are in need of repair this is where it is reported.. thanks in advance..

Thursday  is the Club Meeting. which will spend some time on Field Day information... In fact, Starting with the Tech Talk, it will continue into the meeting .. In a sense, it starts at 6:30...  there will have hands on the logging software and how it works... maps showing where the antenna layout is .. as well as times of gathering for breakfast (if you want), setting up, some of the rules, times for the Field Day Pot Luck dinner, and answers to most questions..
If you did not get the latest June Calendar in  the last email, let me know and I can send it again.. CQ Tuesday is the 19th...

RADIO HAPPENINGS 6.6.2025

The other new thing, is that we had to remove the calendar from the Club Site list. It was only letting Google members open it up.. After experimenting with other calendars that had the same problem, we developed a calendar that will be included with the newsletter as an attachment.. The June  Calendar will be attached to this one...

We will start off with the Word from  the Top .. the Club President's letter >>>

Greetings,

Hamfest.  A few more words about our Hamfest…it was only a week or so ago, but it seems like a long time…and I think that’s good because it means the 2026 Hamfest is coming up.  To make our next one even more successful, please think back and share your thoughts with Todd, W9GRB and Dave, KD9HJJ on what went well and what could use improvement.  They’re building a detailed list that we’ll use in planning our 2026 event. I hope your list includes some of the following:  great volunteers…Friday set-up and Saturday at the fest; exceptional donations from Gene, AB9GK that were sold at the club table; tailgate area was well organized and controlled; guest parking was very orderly.  This is just a start to my list.  I hope it will encourage you to contribute your thoughts and recommendations so our next Hamfest can be even better.

Field Day.  Our Field Day co-chairs Gene, AB9GK and Wes, W9WES, and the committee will present a complete run-down at the June Club meeting.  If you’re new to Amateur Radio, Field Day is your opportunity to get on the air and make a lot of contacts.  If you need some encouragement, there will be several “seasoned” members available to get you going.

Our June Tech Talk will include a detailed discussion of Field Day, and the use of computer logging.  Dave, N8KQS will demonstrate the use of our logging software so we’ll all be ready to go when we get on the air.   Remember…Field Day…Osprey Park...June 28th and 29th.

Fox Hunt.  It’s hunting season.  I was the fox on Sunday, June 8.  The winner was Matthew, K9MJC who found me in 43 minutes.  Coming in second was the team of Sarah, AD9FA and Kirt, N9WVD.  Nate, N8HWV also found the fox and came in third.  I’ll give a complete report at the meeting where we’ll also set a date for the July hunt.

Thank you for making the Green Bay Mike and Key Club such an active and successful organization.  Please join us at the meeting on June 12 (get there at 6:30 for the Tech Talk) as we discuss the plans and activities that make our club special.   See you Thursday evening!
