Radio Happenings May 27, 2022..

Writing this on Friday Morning the 27th, 6AM.

It has been a busy eight days. Starting with heading down to the Hamvention with the Tower Electronics workers on Wednesday  the 18th. A caravan of four vehicles. Heavy rain all the way down.

I had never been there and the whole time was an experience.

Thursday was set up day. From putting up two large tents, setting up tables, placing the trays of items for sale. And if you ever saw what they have, you know it was a bunch. It was late when we finished.

The next morning we saw that it had rained during the night. Arriving early, the evidence of sagging tents heavy with rain water. The trays had been covered with tarps so they were ok but pushing the water off the tents wet the area and some of us. But by the time the gates opened, we were mostly ready.

The experience of the others showed as they jumped right into helping find the items that were being sought out.

Customers from all over including out of the US were there. Many knew that Tower had the items  they were looking for and brought their companions with them. A long, but satisfying day. Gates closed at 5 but we had to cover all the tables and lash them down because the wind had increased raising the poles in the middle off the ground. One of the vans was lashed to the tent for the night just to make sure it was there in the morning.. we left the grounds about 7PM. Had dinner and sleep came quickly.
That was one day with more days to follow.. will tell perhaps over a cup of coffee.

It was a great experience.. wish I could come back again to see more of the vendors in the many buildings on the Fair Grounds.  It would fill all three days…..

So  that is one reason for the delay in this newsletter…..
